Welcome to Connie Maxwell Children’s Home!

Connie Maxwell is a home for some children who have been abandoned, abused , or neglected and some who have been placed by loving caregivers going through difficult situations.  In either case, children have a safe, secure, loving environment at Connie Maxwell. In addition to the main campus in Greenwood, Connie Maxwell Children’s Home provides residential care and family support through satellite locations in Chesterfield, Mauldin, Orangeburg and Florence as well as referral services in Summerville. Each year more than 200 children of diverse needs and backgrounds call Connie Maxwell home.  Some children stay as little as a few months, others for many years.  Some arrive alone, others with siblings.  Most are between the ages of six and eighteen.  Children who remain through high school graduation receive financial support for college.

June 8, 9, 10, 2012 Alumni Reunion

Happy New Year to our Connie Maxwell Family from Alumni President - Leslie Taylor

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and you are looking forward to the many blessings that the New Year will bring.

From January until June 8, 9 and 10, 2012 you will be hearing more an more about this year's exciting Connie Maxwell Alumni Reunion.  Your Alumni Association works hard from one reunion to the next to assure each Alumni a good visit back home..."A Time To Remember"....with old childhood friends, seeing memorable places and staff members and  we hope ...meet all your expectations.

What we ask in return is for each of you to contact your Connie Maxwell family members and let them know how much you miss them and want to see them at this year's Reunion.  At our last 2010 Reunion  we had around 600 Alumni families return home.  Can this be topped??  You each can be an ambassador for Connie Maxwell and encourage others to return.  What we could do is have a battle of the decades!  Would you like to be a Decades Leader?? Contact me and let me know ....this could be exciting!

Just in case you may have missed hearing about the Alumni raising the $12,000 last year needed to complete the Alumni Project (Renovation of the kitchen at the Oasis); the money was raised and the Kitchen was completed in August, 2011.  It is beautiful and so needed by the children and ......large groups such as the Alumni Reunion will also enjoy it.  Money was also donated last year to build an outdoor basketball court on campus for the children.  This also has been completed.  These are just two more reasons for you to come home and check things out.

Our last Alumni Board Meeting before the Reunion will be March 17,  2012 at 10:00 AM in the Sam Smith Activities Bldg. and "All Alumni" are invited.  Our Alumni Board consist of a wonderful group of Alumni  that want to be of service to the children at Connie Maxwell and you!  Come see what your Board does and how you can be involved.  Sue Sheriff is our incoming Alumni President for 2012-2014 and I am sure she can use your help.  Remember to save the dates!.

We are very grateful for your financial and prayerful support of our beloved Connie Maxwell and the many hurting children they continue to care for.  As you know the budget for this care is trememdous.  With the South Carolina Baptist Convention reducing the amount of money they were sending Connie Maxwell each year, it will increase the need for more people to step up and help out financially.  Spread the word about Connie Maxwell to others and tell them about Connie Maxwell Children's Home and the web site www.conniemaxwell.com and ask for their help.  Invite them to visit Connie Maxwell with you.

Do not forget you can contact your childhood friends on Connie Maxwell "Facebook".  Thank you to Rev. Miller Murphy who will help answer any questions at this site.  This letter will also be on Connie Maxwell Facebook to inform more Alumni about upcoming events.

Please contact me for any information or assistance or if you have ideas you would like to share.  It is a great honor to serve you as your Connie Maxwell Alumni President.  May God bless you and our childhood home.

Leslie Taylor, Alumni President
