New Alumni Project
Eric Taylor reported that our alumni project, the restoration of the swimming pool, had been funded by a grant from the Abney Foundation. The foundation donated $92,000.00 towards the project. He suggested the new project for the alumni was a renovation of OASIS area, including expanding the kitchen and building a new bathhouse. It was also suggested to build bathrooms near the bunkhouses. Eric Taylor suggested that we accept this project with the same money committed to our previous project, $80,000.00. The board voted to accept the $80,000 upgrade at the OASIS area as the new alumni project.
Henry Woodard brought the meeting to order.
Kaye Henry Webb welcomed everyone and thanked those who were able to come yesterday evening to the OASIS campground to enjoy a cook-out and campfire with some of the children who live at Connie Maxwell now.
Before Doug Kauffmann presented our devotional, he introduced us to Dr. Jamison's grandson, Mr. Robert Jamison Tensley. Doug discussed two New Testament words chronos, referring to quantity time, and kairos, or quality time. He reviewed some major events and people who have become part of the history of Connie Maxwell. There is a collection of all the monthly Connie Maxwell magazines printed from 1901-1976, but many issues are missing since then. He will make a list available to the alumni to help collect the missing publications. Doug closed in prayer.
The minutes of the last meeting was distributed and read by Debbie Jones. They were approved as written.
Sue Sheriff gave her Treasurer's Report. As of March 2007, our balance was $4,939.47. There were expenses of $498.11. We had deposits of $360.00. Interest was $2.84. Our current balance, as of October 20, 2007 is $4,804.20. The Treasurer's Report was accepted.
As soon as the next board meeting concludes we will post the latest update for the reunion.
