 Connie Maxwell Baptist Church is located on the campus of Connie Maxwell Children’s Home in Greenwood, South Carolina. The people who come to the church are the students, some of the staff of Connie Maxwell and their families, and people from the community who want to minister to our students.
There is a beautiful sanctuary and classrooms for Sunday School and mission groups. The leaders of the church believe that using music, visual arts, drama, interpretive movement, puppetry, clowning, creative writing, photography and mission programs help children learn in a hands-on way.
Like most churches, there are Sunday School classes and choirs for all ages. We send mission groups into our community and around the state to minister to others. The Mission Team, made up of teenage students and adults, have helped with worship services at local churches and at Charleston's Seafarer’s Center, where they have also done renovation work. The Mission Team also ministers through helping with construction to neighborhood homes through Habitat for Humanity and Charleston Outreach.
In some ways Connie Maxwell Baptist Church is different from most churches. The church is made up primarily of children, who participate in leadership roles and in worship services more than in most churches.
