Welcome to Connie Maxwell Children’s Home!

Connie Maxwell is a home for some children who have been abandoned, abused , or neglected and some who have been placed by loving caregivers going through difficult situations.  In either case, children have a safe, secure, loving environment at Connie Maxwell. In addition to the main campus in Greenwood, Connie Maxwell Children’s Home provides residential care and family support through satellite locations in Chesterfield, Mauldin, Orangeburg and Florence as well as referral services in Summerville. Each year more than 200 children of diverse needs and backgrounds call Connie Maxwell home.  Some children stay as little as a few months, others for many years.  Some arrive alone, others with siblings.  Most are between the ages of six and eighteen.  Children who remain through high school graduation receive financial support for college.

Grandparents Parenting Their Grandchildren

More and more grandparents are in the business of raising their grandchildren. Recent census data shows that in America, grandparents raising their grandchildren have risen 26% since 2000. There are almost 5 million children in our country who are looking to grandma and grandpa as mom and dad. This does not include children who are being raised by aunts, uncles, siblings, cousins or other relatives. Are you a grandparent who is having difficulties raising your grandchildren? Are you responsible for a family member under the age of 18? Do you have health issues and are concerned about how you can take care of yourself and your grandchildren? Is your grandchild approaching adolescence and you are afraid this time in the child’s life will be too much for you to handle? Are you feeling frustrated and wondering if you can adequately provide for your grandchild’s needs?

Today we are partnering with grandparents and other family members across South Carolina in the raising of children. Connie Maxwell provides a safe, nurturing and Christian environment for children. From young elementary school-age children to seniors graduating from high school, Connie Maxwell can partner with you in meeting the basic physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual needs of your grandchildren. Our mission is to help families, especially grandparents, raise their grandchildren. Children can benefit from the ministry of Connie Maxwell and still spend significant time with you.
