Welcome to Connie Maxwell Children’s Home!

Connie Maxwell is a home for some children who have been abandoned, abused , or neglected and some who have been placed by loving caregivers going through difficult situations.  In either case, children have a safe, secure, loving environment at Connie Maxwell. In addition to the main campus in Greenwood, Connie Maxwell Children’s Home provides residential care and family support through satellite locations in Chesterfield, Mauldin, Orangeburg and Florence as well as referral services in Summerville. Each year more than 200 children of diverse needs and backgrounds call Connie Maxwell home.  Some children stay as little as a few months, others for many years.  Some arrive alone, others with siblings.  Most are between the ages of six and eighteen.  Children who remain through high school graduation receive financial support for college.

Volunteering

famvolsThanks to individuals, families (as pictured at left), businesses, Sunday school classes, mission organizations (as pictured below), Baptist Student Union groups and churches, which support this ministry, children have a home and families have a partner. Opportunities are many and varied at Connie Maxwell. South Carolina Baptist Churches and/or groups can visit or perform volunteer projects on any of the campuses. Many help sponsor a cottage on the main campus or one of the satellite locations. Your group could provide needed groceries (see the grocery list page), items off the Wish List (see Wish List page), school supplies or clothing, and pray daily for the children, their families and staff. We also maintain the wish list in our Conversations quarterly magazine. Children also love to receive mail and birthday cards. You can even help when you use your Piggly Wiggly PFC Card (see information on the Piggly Wiggly page). No matter what you do your generosity will be appreciated and lives touched. Know as you give, wevolshovel respond as good stewards. We trust in the teachings of the Bible to act responsibly with that which God has blessed us. Contact Polly Davis, Director of Volunteer Services , at 1 (864) 942-1400 or 1 (800) 868-CMCH ext 1405.
