OASIS (Outdoor Adventures Specifically Involving Students), affectionately known as “the farm” has long been a popular part of our Greenwood campus. Each year it hosts school field trips, cross-country track meets, weddings, equestrian events and many other activities! Our ropes course offers our students, staff and outside groups physical and mental challenges, as well as exciting adventures. OASIS Campground has two bunkhouses, each sleeping 18 people, as well as access to a full kitchen and bathhouse. It is available for volunteer groups or for weekend rentals. For more information, contact Brad Martin, OASIS Director, at (864) 554-3387.
Connie Maxwell Baptist Church
Connie Maxwell Baptist Church is located on the Greenwood campus. Each week, the church opens its doors to the campus children, staff and church volunteers as well as people from the local community that choose to worship together. Our church offers children and youth programs including missions. Bible study begins at 10:00 am on Sundays with Worship Service at 11:00 am. For more information about Connie Maxwell Baptist Church, please contact Rev. Miller Murphy, Pastor at (864) 942-1401 or Katie Troutman, Ministerial Assistant at (864) 942-1401 or Corbin Herron, Minister of Music and Students at (864) 942-1423.
Become part of our Birthday Card Ministry
Help our children celebrate their birthday by sending a card. You can request a monthly list that will have birthdays and firsts names of our children by contacting Jill Bryant at (864) 942-1400. Cards can be mailed monthly to the main campus in Greenwood, or to the appropriate satellite locations. Let the children know that others care and are celebrating with them.
Build a Personal Relationship with a Child
Our children need people and families that will spend time with them one-on-one. This special connection is invaluable and gives our children extra love and attention. You can build a one-on-one relationship with a child by becoming a Resource Family or a Respite Family. This special type of volunteer role allows you to invest deeply into one child in the same way you might invest in a niece or nephew. For more information about being a Resource or Respite Family, please contact Debbie McDowell at (864) 942-1405.
Pray for our Children & Families
Connie Maxwell Children’s Home is making a difference in the lives of children and families because of the kindness of those who give prayer, time, and the financial resources needed to operate this vital ministry. Prayer is an important way you can participate in God’s wonderful work here at Connie Maxwell. You can pray for: our cottage parents, our children’s biological families; our health, our school grades; our spiritual growth, or for God’s provisions. Please see our current prayer requests for how you can be specifically praying for this ministry.
Host a Fundraiser
Did you know that each year we are required to raise over 50% of our operating costs? If it were not for the support of our dedicated alumni, friends, churches and other organizations, we would not be able to serve the children and families that depend on us for love, security, and skills to help rebuild their lives. You can help by hosting a fundraiser for our ministry. To discuss ideas or other ways you can help, please contact Eric Taylor, Vice President for Development at (864) 942-1446.
